The Emergency (ER) Department provides immediate medical care to patients requiring emergency care.  The ER handles an average of 70 patients daily.

The ER is open every day around the clock (24 hours) and is staffed with:

• 12 ER physicians qualified with ALS, EPLS & BTLS
• 24 ER nurses qualified with ILS

To facilitate efficient work, key for critically-ill patients, the ER is conveniently located near the following facilities:

• Radiology (X-Ray, CT & MRI)
• Central Lab (Blood work)
• Pharmacy (Medicines)
• Medical Records

All ER beds are fully equipped with a portable monitor, back board, cervical collar, ECG machine, defibrillator and resuscitation tools needed to provide lifesaving surgical interventions.

The ER has an ambulance service that operates around the clock (24/7) to provide emergency medical transportation and care. During transportation to the hospital, patients are accompanied by a specialized doctor and qualified nurse to handle critical care cases. All ambulance personnel must pass the life support courses. The ambulance acts as a mobile ICU unit with a portable ventilator, heart monitor, and other equipment needed for safe transport. The ambulance is equipped with a mobile phone/fax for continuous communication and data transfer between the mobile unit and hospital consultants.

The Dar Al Fouad Emergency Department is known as the most qualified, trusted trauma center in the region.  Its reputation extends across the borders, as hospitals from abroad use DAFH as an evacuation tertiary center. The ER Department is equipped with one of the only hospital helipads in Egypt, allowing it to receive air ambulances (i.e., helicopters).
